New Adventures Await

“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.”

― Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

As March comes to an end, and our snow starts to melt, I can’t help but feel the fresh energy that springtime brings. The mountains are calling with promises of adventure, and it’s about that time again to acquaint ourselves with the landscapes.

I went a little incognito on my social media this past week. It was the kids’ spring break and my in-laws were driving up from Texas to visit.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous while they were visiting. The mornings were fresh and crisp and the earth warmed up very fast. The feeling of that fresh spring air blowing through your hair is very intoxicating. I can’t wait to start up my running again on the trails.

We took the the kids’ to take a ride along the Royal Gorge Route in Canon City, Colorado. I had doubts about going along on this train ride, but it was actually really nice.

All Aboard The Royal Gorge Railway!

Total time on the railroad was about 2 hours. Our seating was on the upper level in the Vista Dome. The menu consisted of many fresh, delicious, and locally sourced ingredients. We devoured our grass-fed angus & buffalo burgers. You won’t hear any complaints about the menu from us. We were totally impressed!

I almost dozed off a couple of times after eating my lunch. Between the warm sun, smooth railroad, and a full belly, can you honestly blame me? 🙂

Anyone else love the change of seasons?
